As of 2026-07-15, qm config 103 on Finn shows cores: 12, but the Console guest OS currently only sees/uses 8 CPUs. Proxmox vCPU topology changes to a running KVM guest don't take effect on an in-guest reboot; they require a full stop/start of the VM (qm shutdown 103 && qm start 103 on Finn), which briefly takes Console (and everything running on it, including this session and all workers/dev slots) offline.

Why: Justin asked whether Console would have 12 CPUs "after a restart" while investigating capacity; the config was already set from a prior change but never applied because only reboots (not full power cycles) had happened since.

How to apply: If a future session sees Console apparently underpowered on CPU relative to what qm config shows, or Justin asks about applying a pending vCPU bump, the fix is a full stop/start, not a guest reboot. Warn before doing it: this session and all live worktree/dev-slot workers are on Console and will be interrupted, and the reboot-preflight tmux-socket-wipe gotcha applies.
