MyAnonaMouse (MAM) Rules Reference, 2026-05-19

URL: https://mkdocs.justinsforge.com/memory/handoffs/myanonamouse-rules-2026-05-19/

Justin is a member of MyAnonaMouse (private tracker, books/audiobooks). This file is the full ruleset he pasted for an Opus47 worker to reference while helping him stay compliant.

Context for the worker

  • MAM = MyAnonaMouse, private ebook/audiobook tracker.
  • Justin's audiobook download workflow lives at memory/general/reference_audiobook_download_workflow.md (manual qBit + Prowlarr → /mnt/storage/audiobooks/).
  • Rule 1.7 (Bots/Automation/Scraping) is the highest-stakes one for forge: no automation of site functions outside the approved API list. Anything that touches MAM from a script must check the API doc list first.
  • Rule 1.2 (IP duplication) + Rule 1.4 (Ratio 1.0) matter for seedbox/VPN setup.
  • Wait for Justin's specific question before action.

1 General Rules

1.1 No Offensive Language (2026-04-10)

1.2 Duplicating IP Addresses (2026-02-21)

  • One account per person and per IP. Members sharing an IP must share an account.
  • Multiple accounts on one IP, all disabled.
  • More than one account per member, account disabled, possible permanent ban.
  • VPN / Proxy / Seedbox: must inform staff of IP + provider via Staff Contact System (new seedbox, replacement, or additional all need notifying).

1.3 Multiple Accounts per User (2013-09-20)

  • First account is the only one allowed for life of membership. Repeat offenders permanently blocked. Lost-account recovery via IRC.

1.4 Maintaining Ratio (2021-11-21)

  • Global ratio ≥ 1.0.
  • Every individual torrent seeded 72 hours within 30 days.

  • You are responsible for invitees' behavior. Selling/trading invites for MAM or any other site is forbidden.

1.6 Inactive Accounts (2017-11-30)

  • Must log in and use account regularly. Long absences: park the account in preferences.

1.7 Bots, Automation, and Scraping (2026-04-18)

  • No automation of site functions except those listed in API Documentation or approved by admins.
  • Applies to all methods: bots, scripts, user scripts.
  • No scraping. Unauthorized automation/scraping → restrictions or disablement.
  • Approved list lives on the API list page.

2 Downloading Rules

2.1 Sharing (2013-09-20)

  • Always seed, even when nobody is leeching. Karma points reward seeding, redeemable for upload credit and benefits.

2.2 Posting Downloads to Other Sites (2020-06-27)

  • May share content, but never reuse MAM .torrent files. Generate a new .torrent if re-uploading.

2.3 Allowed Clients (2026-03-31)

  • Use Recommended/Approved Clients only. Better support on Recommended tier.
  • Disable client auto-update.
  • No mobile clients.

  • ≥ 1.0 site-wide. Shown under name/avatar on home page.

2.5 Seeding Individual Torrents (2016-03-30)

  • 72 hours of seeding within 30 days. Time starts after download completes. Seedtime accumulates across sessions, doesn't need to be continuous. Failure = Hit and Run warning → seed-only or ban.

2.6 New Members Ratio (2023-05-24)

  • New account gets bonus points equivalent to 10 GB upload credit. Recommended: don't exceed 10 GB downloaded (besides freeleech) until buffer built.

  • Not allowed. Must download entire torrent. Partials count as unsatisfied → can disable downloading.

2.8 Unsatisfied Torrents (2026-05-10)

  • Unsatisfied = torrent not yet seeded to site requirements.
  • Limits by class:
  • New (< 2 weeks, user rank): 20

  • No multi-category requests; one category per request.
  • Use Requests link (Torrents drop-down). Search existing torrents first.
  • Request form may be reused by uploader for torrent detail page; Rule 6.2 applies.
  • Monthly request credits (don't roll over; upload-earned ones do):
  • Mouse: 0

  • Power User: 2
  • VIP: 4
  • Elite-VIP+: 10
  • 1 week to edit a request. Requests expire after 3 months.

(Uploading rules section is members-only; not included here.)

Forge-relevant takeaways

  1. Never script against MAM. Rule 1.7 forbids unapproved automation. Anything in forge that touches MAM must use the published API and be explicitly approved.
  2. Justin's audiobook flow is manual (qBit + Prowlarr); see reference_audiobook_download_workflow.md. Don't auto-add a scraper or hit-and-run automation.
  3. Seeding hygiene matters. 72h/30d per torrent + global ≥ 1.0. Any tooling around download queueing must respect unsatisfied limits.
  4. VPN/Seedbox IP changes need staff notification. If we ever spin up a seedbox or add a VPN that touches MAM, ping staff first.
